PostSubject: Which CV for '91 ST183????   Mon Oct 19, 2009 1:23 pm

Hi all,

My CV is noisy so I need to replace it soon. But, looking at different websites they have different ideas about what is the correct dimensions for the joint for the inner teeth (either 25 or 27).

http://www.uadweb.com/acatalog/Product_Range__Eng_Size__2000__Year__8_85_through_6_89_2747.html

Chasis Ref = (ST162R/171R/ST183). Eng: Type = (3S-GEL).Manual / Auto Tansmission.

Outer Teath = (26). Seal Diameter = (56). Inner Teath = (25). ABS Teath = (48).
Price: £31.50 (Including VAT at 17.5%)

Hi mark,

If you look here

http://www.repcotrade.com.au/download.cfm?downloadfile=23899A22-110A-31D5-DA53B2478D924ABE&typename=dmFile&fieldname=filename

its 26, 27, 56 in order of external SC, internal SC and seal (SC - spline count) so i would say its 27.

Just a month ago i had the box but cant seem to find it, if i were you, i'd ask Toyota or even Halfords just to be safe Cool

can also confirm that it should be 27

http://doc.diytrade.com/docdvr/382243/6367968/1215963129.xls

i just typed in on google 'ST182 CV Joint Catalogue' and all came up with 27.

http://doc.diytrade.com/docdvr/382243/6367968/1215963129.xls

ST182 is the same as ST183, just make sure it has the ABS ring on (same as 4ws ring), but like celica_xr9 said, get toyota to confirm it Cool

Guys, thanks for your help!

I will confirm with Toyota as suggested (I'll not bother with Halfords as everytime I order from them for my wifes car (rover 200) the parts are wrong!)

Cheers,
Mark

Apparently both are valid and I could get no commitment on which mine was. So, I ordered the 27 Inner teeth version .... and it's wrong pale I need the 25 teeth version.

If anyone needs a new 27 tooth version in the UK, I have one for sale lol!

Cheers,
Mark

Is your celica prefacelift or facelift?

Could be different, might make a difference if it's JDM, EUDM or USDM. I know that they have different size discs so might be a different spline count Neutral

Can't you return it?

No - as it was not the original engine or gearbox they were not prepared to commit. Rolling Eyes

It's JDM ... not sure what (pre)facelift is sorry ... I'll have a google.

Unfortunately it was a return policy within 1 week ... but I didn't have time to fit until after two. I'm not overly concerned as I can chuck it back on ebay and it will sell eventually to recover most of the cost.

Cheers,
Mark
