Gen 6 ABS Speed Sensor On Gen 5 4WS

Does anyone know if the connector on the gen 6 celica abs speed sensor is the same as the gen 5 celica 4WS/ABS speed sensor?

Just so you might like to know, a brand new 4WS speed sensor from Toyota is $682 NZD!!!!

I've been tempted to have a play with this http://tinyurl.com/yjb6y2k but don't know how close the dimensions are. It would take a little work to integrate this correctly for the 4WS, but must be possible and worth it based on the cost.

I can't see it being too hard to make it work, considering the cost it would be a good idea.

I think that the difficulty is that the original sensor gave a balanced output whereas this sensor is open collector, so we need some elecronickery to interface the two together. My __very basic__ idea is something like this, but I don't know how well it will work.

I'd tend to avoid this in the case of ABS as I'd not like to trust it in safety critical aspect.
