PostSubject: Fault code 11 - ECU?   Tue Nov 17, 2009 2:22 am

When i went to take a look at the 4ws celica, i done the paperclip test and came up with faullt code 11. i matched it up to 'ECU'.

Does this mean i need a new ECU?

Im also assuming the 4ws uses a seperate ECU than the engine.

No, i had that code and my ECU just needed reprogramming and the rear steering 'Redcentred'. My local mechanic around the corner done the job.

Yes, have a look here

http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_J_1990_TOYOTA_CELICA_ST183-BLMVF_8422.html

Wouldn't that be a Toyota dealer job?

Mark Laughton Motors Service Centre, real great place. For replacing the CV, checking the 4WS speed sensor, reprogramming the ECU and more things i cant remember, it costs me a little of $200 Shocked Shocked

Not sure yet, as you said it's just before christmas so can't really afford it.

It's a real pain to drive, i regret to say i was VERY close to swapping it for a starlet and let it be someone elses problem just like somebody did to me Twisted Evil

Am sticking with it though, just seems to go wrong, always when i have no money aswell Sad

Yea was thinking about it but if i was to do that, i'd end up buying a GT4 scratch

Maybe a year or 2 in the future, i'm hoping to pull the car off the road and give it a fresh rebuild including the 4WS system so new sensors, rebuild 4WS motors, new ECU, etc.

Right, i have had, driving with the 4WS broken is rubbish, its actually a horrible car to drive at the moment so am getting under the car tomorrow to fix it.

I found out how to do it myself so will do a write up.
