is it worth advancing my timing on my gen 2 3sge?

i always use 98 octane, i was thinking advancing it to 13.

Does it effect fuel economy?

thanks Cool

Hard to say, problem is with gen 2 3sge's, they suffer real bad from detonation due to the high compression. Even on 98, i occasionally get it when its under load.

Only thing i can say it advance it a degree at a time, each time take it for a drive to make sure its all safe.

As for fuel economy, im not too sure.

If your using it for everyday use, i'd play it safe and leave it as it is, last thing you want is engine detonation.

No worries, i was tempted to do this but its simply not worth it but thats simply for me. My engine detonates under load and i live on a massive hill so i cant but if your 3SGE is in better condition than mine and doesnt detonate at all, crank it up to 12 degrees Twisted Evil

I dont want to be held responsible though Wink
