| Something i've always wanted to do is to transplant a Redtop Beams 3SGE out of an SS3 ST20X Celica.
As it's an 'S' engine, the mounts will match up and if the gearbox comes with it, the SS3 trans comes with a factory LSD! Don't quote me on that though, it could be most SS3's.
Anyone know anyone who has done this? I cant see it being that hard, wiring would be the hard part i'd imagine.
Would be great to have loads of info so we can put together a good guide.

That'll be awesome dude, i think if you put the celica on a diet thus creating a better power to weight ratio, the beams can really help the celica's!

| Yes, the engine is a complete bolt in. The wiring is the hardest part of all, but is easily manageable as long as you have the standard ecu and loom. If anyone is serious about the swap, Dave aka Roman on www.toyspeed.org.nz successfully transplated one into a SW20 MR2, and it went like absolute stink. | |

| Something to remember when purchasing a redtop Beams. Make sure you get it with the original wiring harness and ecu. A harness and/or ecu from another beams engine could give some serious trouble, since Toyota somehow linked the engine and it's components together. | |

Have seen that, he done an awesome job, did he get the beams from a Celica? - nsx wrote:

Someone on one of the MR2 frums made that mistake, still got it running though

| Sure you can make it work, but it's so much easier when you have all the original components. | |

Someone on one of the MR2 frums made that mistake, still got it running though He had both, he got a MR2 Beams motor from an MR2 which had suffered detonation, and got it rebuilt by the legend Lynn Rogers. He also got a 30km celica motor, and had no problem running both on the SW20 Beams gear. Hes currently putting his rebuilt motor into an AA60 Carina.
