| Does anyone know how strong 3SGE internals are?
Im talking mainly the 2nd and 3rd generation 3SGE's.
Everyone says that the 4AGE internals can't handle boost but they do, i've seen many examples.
Can the standard 3SGE internals handle forced induction?

| I wouldn't recommend turbo-ing the 3S-GE. The internals will last, but only at very low boost. Also you will have to lower the compression ratio. With all the necessary parts, it'll cost you a fortune to have a reliable engine. best way to go is 2nd or 3rd gen 3S-GTE | |

| As above, if you want it to be reliable, go get a GTE. Saying that, Toyota don't make poor quality pistons but i wouldn't want to risk it. If you did do it though, i wouldn't go over 5 PSI, 6 maximum. It has been done on standard internals but i wouldn't recommend it if it's your daily. I would also recommend a rebuilt, chances are the piston rings would give way before your pistons do | |

| You could always use a thicker head gaket to lower the compression?
might take some of the pressure of the pistons

| That alone will be not enough. Combustion temperature on turbocharged cars is way higher then n/a cars. So if you boost past 5 or 6 psi, the pistons will start to melt. | |

might take some of the pressure of the pistons i haven't heard good things about doing that but if i was ever going to do this, then i would give it a go.

Have seen that on a 4AGE, was running 8 psi on standard internals. Completely cooked the pistons I suppose it comes down to the sayng 'Do it once, do it right.'

| I was speaking to someone today who had strapped a turbo to a 4AGE and asked him about the 3SGE and he said that aslong as you tune it right, it is possible. He recommended a well set up water to air intercooler with squirters, just don't go over 6 psi. If you were going to do it though, i'd just go down the GTE route | |
