From what i have read, as soon as you hit 5100rpm, ACIS kicks in and opens up the chamber. When this happens, it's supposed to 'put you into the back of your seat', revs build up quicker and noise dramatically changes.

To tell you the truth, i don't fell this.

Is it just me or is there a problem with my ACIS?

Also, what's the deal with the screw connected to the ACIS vacuum thingy (sorry, don't know name)?

First off all, go under the engine bay with the keys out of the ignition. Look at the ACIS buterfly valve lever (next to the screw), you'll see that the valves are open.

When you turn the ignition on, you'll see the valves close (look at the lever again). If it does this, then so far its working.

Next, start the engine and get someone to rev the engine to 6000rpm (make sure the car is all warmed up, etc).

When it hits 5100rpm, the valves should open (look at the lever again), if it does this, its fine.

If it doesnt, somethings wrong.

What i did is remove the chamber and clean the valves and what not, worked great!

On minwe, 2 of the valves need sorting, they flap on thier own Rolling Eyes

Hope this helps

What i done is gave it a clean. That means vacuum lines, butterfly valves, everything and make sure the gasket is good.

That screw next to it is pointless IMO. You want the valves completely shut so the screw would be opening it up. You want the valves to not let any air through what so ever like this.

I'm sure its 5100rpm for the ST18X's, as soon as you hit it, it sounds like the exhaust is being uncovered and starts roaring.

One day, i would love to drive an ST202 to compare, 5400rpm seems quite late, where is the redline at on the ST202's?

7000rpm, same as our gen 2 3SGE isn't it? 5400rpm might be later than are gen 2 3S but the gen 3 3SGE to compensate for it i suppose.

7200 rpm is st202 redline.

Aren't you guys talking about the TVIS system instead of ACIS?

ACIS is used on the gen 6 celicas
TVIS is used on the gen 4 and 5 celicas

On the gen 5, the 3SGE's had ACIS and the turbo 3SGTE had TVIS. Think it's the same on the gen 6's aswell.

The ST202 'prefered shifting' is at 7,200rpm (as you can see in the rpm guage) rev limiter is 7,500 (Can't confirm since I haven't taken mine about 7,000rpm)

Look at the difference between the gen 2 3SGE and the gen 3, the gen 3 intake chamber is so round and smooth and the gen 2 is so square, i think there is some improvement to be made on the gen 2 Question Question Question Question
